Toyota Innova has been a huge hit for Toyota Motors. And at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2012, New Delhi, the cash cow received a much needed make over. With 23 variants in all (21 in diesel and 2 in petrol), the Toyota Innova will start with a base price of Rs 8.80 lakh and go up to Rs 13.6lakh for a fully loaded one. One of the first MPVs to hit the Indian roads, the new facelift are pretty cosmetic though. There is a revamped grille, redesigned shinny pair of headlamps, and a fully changed rear end of the car.
There is merit in Mahindra & Mahindra opening up the bookings for their latest SUV, the Mahindra XUV 500 again from 8th June 2012. The customer response to the XUV 500 was so overwhelming that all the SUVs made over a 9 months period were sold out in the first phase of launch. Now, after having revamped production to 4000 units/month, the company hopes to satisfy the growing demand. Currently available in 19 cities, the Mahindra XUV 500 is priced between Rs 11.58 lakh-14.11 lakh.

The Verdict: The biggest advantage of the XUV 5oo is its pricing and its features. The Toyota Innova on the other hand is a cool MPV. It comes with Toyota seal of trust, offers good mileage, a smooth & comfortable ride, a technologically advanced diesel engine, and maneuverability. That being said, the Innova requires some modernization in terms of design, a size to make it more city friendly.
