Mahindra Xylo vs Mahindra Quanto (Mini Xylo)

Mahindra Xylo Vs Mahindra Mini XyloMahindra, one of the biggest car makers in India, has been on a hat trick of sorts – first it was Mahindra Scorpio, then Mahindra Xylo, and now Mahindra XUV 5oo. Not happy to rest on the success of their SUVs, the company is now ready to launch the Mahindra Quanto (Mini Xylo), the shorter (less than 4m in length) than the larger, Xylo that was launched in 2009 and upgraded in early 2012.

Mahindra Xylo Mini has been in the development stage for quite some time. A five seater MPV, this vehicle will be powered by a 1.5 liter turbocharged CRDi engine that has been taken from Mahindra’s own 2.2L M-Hawk CRDi range of diesel engines and this will help the Mini Xylo to give a 10+ kmpl mileage in the city and 15+ kmpl on highway runs.

The Verdict: Since its launch in 2009, the Mahindra Xylo has sold more than 90,000 units. What really works for the Xylo are its engine and ability to ride smoothly on any type of road. However, Xylo’s looks and lack of power, like most SUVs have, are deterrents that Mahindra may want to rework. While very little is known about the to-be-launched Mahindra Mini Xylo, it is quite clear that this small SUV will not be powerful enough, but should be able to handle whatever Indian roads throw at it.
